How STET works
The STET brings together SEND-trained mentors, consultant mentors and Educational Psychologists.
SEND-trained and experienced mentors work directly with children and young people in the home and in the community, delivering personalised support that focuses on engagement, regulation and learning readiness.
All mentoring is overseen by a STET consultant and an Educational Psychologist. Together, they coordinate the overall plan, ensure support is purposeful and aligned with identified needs, and maintain a coherent approach rather than separate or disconnected input.

Who STET supports
STET supports children and young people who may be:
- unable to access school for a period of time
- educated otherwise than in school or college (EOTIS/C)
- experiencing barriers barriers to engagement related to SEND, anxiety, neurodivergence and/or emotional wellbeing
Support is shaped around each child or young person’s profile, style of learning and readiness to engage.

A joined-up approach
STET works closely with families, schools, local authorities and other professionals to ensure support is integrated and well-coordinated.
The aim is to help children and young people re-engage with their style of learning, building confidence and capacity over time, and supporting positive transitions wherever possible.
Oversight and quality assurance
All STET work is planned and overseen by a STET consultant, supported by Educational Psychology input, and regularly reviewed to ensure support remains appropriate, effective and aligned with agreed outcomes.
This oversight ensures consistency, accountability and clarity for referrers, families and schools.
Referrals and contact
STET accepts referrals from schools, local authorities and other professionals. Families may also get in touch to discuss potential support.
